Each year we celebrate and honor the achievements of companies and individuals that have made significant contributions in advancing supplier diversity in San Diego. We honor Minority Business Enterprises (MBEs), local corporations and minority advocates for their extraordinary efforts in strengthening the local economy and improving economic opportunities for the local minority community.

On June 26th we will hold our 2009 VIP Networking Reception, Awards Ceremony & Benefit Jazz Concert. This event is designed to provide optimum exposure for our members, minority suppliers and the council. It is an opportunity to showcase the work we do in supplier diversity to the greater San Diego Community.

This program has as it’s focus two main objectives, first, to share the efforts and successes of corporations, suppliers and the Council in supplier diversity with the Southern California business community, press and general public. Secondly, to connect all business units that buy or influence the purchase of goods or services within a member company to potential minority suppliers. Procurement professionals with successful programs and those with upcoming needs for 2009/2010 will benefit greatly from attending the full event. VIP Connection Reception and Feast
Our reception will feature an opportunity to meet new and reconnect with buyers and suppliers in an environment of celebration. You will not (I repeart-NOT) be trapped at a table of 10 for the evening. You will, instead, be free to mix business with pleasure as you mingle while enjoying a full course of fabulous food and drink, artfully prepared and served at your leisure. The chef’s selections and preparations were truly one of the highlights of last year’s event.

To ensure that your time is well spent, we will arrange “Key Matches” and our ambassadors will make introductions during the reception. This will make the event both enjoyable and productive for all.

Awards Presentation Ceremony
The ceremony will take place in the beautifully restored auditorium of the Balboa Theatre.The award nominees will be recognized and winners will take center-stage, both literally and figuratively. This is a night for recognition and celebration for all of San Diego’s business community, media and interested citizens to see. They will also learn about the role of the Council in building economic opportunity in diverse communities while enhancing the supply-chain effectiveness for corporate members.

Benefit Jazz Concert (Hiroshima)
Now, we top it off with an outstanding benefit concert to support the future efforts of the Council to improve economic development in diverse communities. Last year was terrifically entertaining with Gerald Albright, an internationally known recording artist. This year, we will have another hot smooth jazz artist.
